Leeds United and AC Milan are reportedly battling it out to sign Red Bull Salzburg striker Noah Okafor.

The Lowdown: Okafor profiled

Okafor is 22 years of age and is primarily a centre-forward who can also play on the wing.

A Switzerland international with Nigerian citizenship, Okafor has contributed to ten goals in 14 games this season, netting three times in as many games in the Champions League.

Talent scout Jacek Kulig labelled the forward 'incredibly prolific' and in ‘crazy form’ last month, and it looks as if his displays have caught the eye of Leeds officials.

The Latest: Leeds interest

Italian outlet Calciomercato provided an update regarding Okafor on Thursday evening.

They name-checked both AC Milan and Leeds with an interest in the forward, who is under contract until 2024.

The Verdict: Gakpo alternative?

The Whites still want to sign Cody Gakpo in the New Year after missing out in the summer, however, you’d expect his incredible form this season will attract interest from plenty of clubs who can offer Champions League football.

Therefore, Okafor could well be a smart alternative and looks like an extremely exciting talent following his start to the season.

He is valued at a career-high £16.2m by Transfermarkt and previously contributed to 17 goals in 44 games under Jesse Marsch, so this could be one to watch over the coming months.
