Taking to Twitter, journalist Brenno Beretta has made a Leeds United managerial claim as the club, and by extension their director Victor Orta, now eye Palmeiras boss Abel Ferreira.

The Lowdown: Orta weighing options...

As Marcelo Bielsa's contract runs down with no sign of an extension just yet, Elland Road director Orta has reportedly been weighing replacements.

The Argentine's current deal runs out at the end of the 2021/22 season, with former Granada boss Diego Martinez having been heavily linked in recent months. He isn't the only name being eyed by Orta, as reports emerged this week that Leeds could also turn to Ferreira.

Sharing an update, Beretta has the latest as he takes to social media.

The Latest: Beretta makes claim...

As per the reporter, the Whites, and by extension Orta, indeed have the Palmeiras coach on a list of possible replacements for Bielsa. The 42-year-old is also set to decide his future over the holidays, coming after his side recently retained their Copa Libertadores title.

Beretta tweeted:

"Abel Ferreira has many polls on football from abroad, but a concrete proposal, so far, was only from Al-Nassr.

"Leeds has him on a list of possible replacements for Bielsa, who has a contract until June 2022. Abel must define his future on vacation."

The Verdict: Good candidate?

Taking inspiration from Premier League title-winning boss Jose Mourinho, Ferreira has already won multiple trophies with Palmeiras at a fairly young managerial age.

The two-time Copa Libertadores champion also has a 2019/20 Brazilian cup winner's medal to his name, drawing high praise from members of his squad.

Palmeiras goalkeeper Weverton especially rates the coach, having called him 'supernatural for his age' and 'brilliant' on television programme Well, friends! (via newsfounded.com).

Out of Martinez and Ferreira, it is a close call over who would be better placed to succeed Bielsa, but we believe the former slightly edges it due to his experience at the top level in Europe.
