Leeds United sporting director Victor Orta has urged Elland Road officials to appoint West Brom manager Carlos Corberan, according to Wayne Veysey for Football Insider.

The Lowdown: Not only Corberan

The Whites are on the hunt for Jesse Marsch’s long-term successor after the club parted ways with the American on Monday.

A number of managers have been linked with the vacant position, including Corberan, Ange Postecoglou, Steven Gerrard, Raul and Andoni Iraola.

Corberan, who was previously Leeds’ under-21 manager and assistant to Marcelo Bielsa, is believed to be open to the idea of talking to the Yorkshire outfit and appears to have the backing of Orta.

The Latest: Corberan to Leeds update

Football Insider's Veysey shared a story on Tuesday morning, revealing that Orta is a ‘huge’ admirer of the current West Brom manager.

According to the reporter, the Leeds chief has 'recommended to club chiefs, including owner Andrea Radrizzani and key shareholders American company 49ers Enterprises' that the 39-year-old should be appointed 'with the brief of implementing the high-intensity football' seen under Bielsa.

The Verdict: Correct call?

Corberan has enjoyed two successful stints in England, the first of which came during the 2021/22 season as he led Huddersfield Town to the Championship play-off final against Nottingham Forest.

He took over at West Brom last October when they were in the relegation zone in that division, and he already has the Baggies in the top six after 10 wins from 13 Championship games.

His work has been labelled 'incredible' by journalist Daniel Hewitt, so taking his previous experience and Leeds connections into consideration could indeed make him the perfect replacement for Marsch.
