Leeds United star Raphinha could sign a new deal at Elland Road before the month is out, according to Football Insider.

The Brazilian has shone since making the move to Yorkshire in October 2020 and has comfortably been the club’s best performer in the Premier League this season, as per WhoScored.

The 25-year-old has contributed to 10 top-flight goals in 2021/22, resulting in links of a move to Bayern Munich over the festive period.

Liverpool are also thought to be tracking Raphinha, whereas West Ham made a late move in the January window weeks after he starred in a 3-2 win at the London Stadium.

The Latest: Source shares Raphinha update

Football Insider shared a story on Thursday morning, revealing that Leeds are confident of a new ‘huge’ contract for Raphinha being finalised, one which would make him the highest-paid player at Elland Road.

A Whites source informed the outlet that a new deal could go through within a matter of weeks, possibly before the end of the month.

The Verdict: Big news

Raphinha is clearly a player in demand after becoming a vital member of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad, so the prospect of penning a new deal soon is huge news for all parties.

You’d expect that the winger will receive a significant pay rise on his current £63,000-a-week deal, a wage which Phil Hay previously described as ‘modest’ for the Premier League. A new contract will also allow the club to include various clauses over a possible exit down the line, as you’d expect that Raphinha could be playing for one of Europe’s biggest clubs in years to come.

Overall, a new Elland Road contract beyond 2024 should be viewed as a brilliant update, and hopefully it can be announced over the coming weeks.
