Former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips has tipped Helder Costa to leave Leeds United this summer, with between £10m and £13m cited as enough to sell him.

It has been a frustrating season for the 27-year-old, who has found himself largely out of favour and not playing a key role in an impressive campaign for the Whites. The Portuguese has been limited to just 10 starts in the league, often having to make do with a place on the substitutes' bench.

Marcelo Bielsa seemingly doesn't consider him an important part of his plans, raising doubts over his long-term future at Elland Road.

Phillips tips Costa to leave

It could be that Costa moves on at the end of the season, and someone who believes that will happen is former England international Phillips.

Speaking to Football Insider, he admitted that £15m could be too much for another club to pay, but a similar amount would likely see Leeds accept an offer:

"I don’t think they’ll be a million miles away but to get £15million, I think they’ll do well.

"It hasn’t quite worked out for Helder at Leeds has it? He’s shown glimpses of what he can bring but he hasn’t been consistent enough.

"For me, they could get between £10million and £13million and that would be an offer that Leeds would find hard to turn down."

Transfer Tavern take

Costa is a talented player who has contributed three goals and three assists in the league this season, but it makes sense to move him on this summer, especially as he has started just two top-flight games since the November international break.

The money Leeds receive for his services could be spent on a more tailor-made option for Bielsa as he looks to strengthen his squad for next term.
