Leeds United are reportedly 'close' to reaching an agreement to sign Watford forward Ismaila Sarr, according to Foot Mercato (via Sport Witness).

The lowdown: PL proven

Signed from Stade Rennais for £27million in 2019, Sarr has been sensational for Watford since arriving in England, directly contributing to 44 goals in 94 outings.

Despite suffering the indignity of relegation twice, the 24-year-old Senegal international has impressed in the Premier League, scoring 10 times and providing eight assists in 50 appearances in the top flight.

Having previously been linked to Liverpool, Manchester United and West Ham, now it appears that Leeds could land Sarr...

The latest: 'Close'

As per Foot Mercato, translated by SW, Leeds are believed to be 'close to an agreement' to sign the 47-cap star.

It's claimed that alongside an agreement between the two clubs, personal terms between the Whites and Sarr are also 'close to being finalised' as Victor Orta looks to add further attacking firepower to Jesse Marsch's ranks.

The report does also state that the transfer 'remains conditioned to an exit' from Elland Road before the man who was dubbed 'scary' and a 'bit of a freak' by ex-teammate Ben Foster arrives n Yorkshire, although there is no hint as to who may leave.

The verdict: Huge signing?

Having sold star winger Raphinha to Barcelona, Luis Sinisterra had been earmarked as the replacement for the Brazilian, however, an early injury setback has cast doubt over the potential immediate impact possible for the Colombian.

Therefore, adding a player of Sarr's ilk to Marsch's options would be a smart move from the Leeds hierarchy, particularly given the attacker's ability to play across the frontline and after missing out on Arnaud Kalimuendo.

Last season, the flamboyant forward scored five times and provided two assists in 22 league appearances, earning an impressive 6.77 Sofascore rating whilst winning 4.7 duels, taking 1.8 shots and completing 1.5 successful dribbles on average per game.

Valued at £24.3million and in the final two years of a contract at Watford (Transfermarkt), Sarr would be an expensive capture for the Yorkshire outfit - dependant on the mooted departure - but one that could have an instant positive impact on the attacking output.
