Leeds United will look to sign a new wide player if Crysencio Summerville leaves on loan on deadline day, according to reliable journalist David Ornstein.

The Lowdown: Summerville could leave on loan

The Whites have had a quiet January transfer window overall, with money hard to come by and no major outgoings taking place.

One player who has been linked with a loan move from Elland Road is Summerville, however, having been limited to just five cameo appearances in the Premier League this season.

It now looks as though the 20-year-old could play a key role on deadline day, in terms of a potential Leeds signing.

The Latest: Key Ornstein update

According to The Athletic's Ornstein, the Whites will aim to sign a last-minute replacement for Summerville, should he seal temporary move away:

"The club will make a late move for cover out wide if Crysencio Summerville leaves on loan. The young Dutchman has attracted interest from his homeland and Germany but no deal has been agreed for him."

The Verdict: Win-win situation?

In truth, there are positives to be found whatever happens with Summerville.

If the youngster moves on, it will allow him the chance to earn regular football at a good standard, hopefully meaning he returns a more rounded player in the summer.

Meanwhile, Victor Orta may then be able to lift the mood both at Thorp Arch and amongst the fans with a new signing on deadline day.

On the flip side, Summerville could continue to play a bit-part role at Leeds if he stays, chipping in from the substitutes' bench and continuing to learn from the likes of Raphinha and Jack Harrison.
