Leeds United are yet to contact West Brom over a potential move for Matheus Pereira, according to LUFCFANZONE.

The Lowdown: Leeds links; Pereira's post

The Whites were first linked with a move for the Brazilian back in May.

A plethora of top-flight clubs were credited with an interest in the attacking midfielder, who has now shared his intentions to depart The Hawthorns.

Pereira took to Twitter on Monday to publicly share his wish to seal a Hawthorns exit this summer. His statement led to a number of Leeds fans urging the club to make their move, but it seems as if the Whites are yet to do so.

The Latest: Source shares update

A source close to the West Brom playmaker informed LUFCFANZONE on the latest over a possible move to Elland Road.

The source believes Pereira would be a ‘very good club’ for the 25-year-old, but there hasn’t been any contact, saying: “‘Matheus has received no contact from Leeds at all during this transfer window’ ‘Despite no approach, I feel that Leeds would be a very good club for Matheus’.”

A further admission from the source admitted Pereira ‘will always be available at Leeds’. It read: “Matheus deserves to continue in the Premier League for what he did last season. He will always be available at Leeds’ disposal for whatever is needed, however he hasn’t received any contact despite the links.”

The Verdict: Sign

Phil Hay revealed last month that the Whites were ready to leave it late in the window to sign a winger, but Pereira’s actions over the last 24 hours should make them act now.

Primarily a right winger, the 25-year-old can also play on the left or as an attacking midfielder, so you’d expect that Marcelo Bielsa would appreciate his versatility.

He was involved in 17 Premier League goals in 33 appearances in a struggling Baggies side last season, which suggests that he could bolster Leeds’ options going forward massively if he goes to Elland Road.

The club haven’t made contact over a move as of yet, so they may have to act fast if they wish to pursue a possible deal.
