Serie A midfielder Nahitan Nandez has been linked with Leeds United in the past, and there has been an update on the Whites’ pursuit of the player.
The latest on Nandez
According to Centotrentuno, via the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United have supposedly had an offer for Cagliari forward rejected. Fellow Premier League side West Ham United have also seen the same thing happen with their offer.
This is a blow for Leeds
The fact that Leeds have tried now on multiple occasions to sign Nandez suggests he is a serious target for Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta, so to see another approach turned down is certainly a blow.
Despite only scoring one goal in his seven Serie A appearances this term, he definitely provides a creative threat at Cagliari. He has managed 1.1 key passes and 1.1 successful dribbles per game (WhoScored). He also helps the defence, averaging two tackles a game in Italy.
It is also reported that they are actually prepared to sell the tough tackling midfielder, but only for a minimum of €35 million (£31.5million), according to Centotrentuno.
If Leeds did pay this fee, then it would be a club-record fee, with summer signing Rodrigo currently holding this title – he was bought for £26 million.
This type of player is a very good fit in a Bielsa side. He wants his attackers to not just be a threat, but also work hard and help out the back line. FIFA’s website describes Nandez as a “tireless right-sided midfielder, who enjoys making late runs into the box”. This further backs up his work ethic and how it fits with Bielsa’s tactics. It wouldn’t be surprising if Leeds made another move for the player soon.
