Leeds United are expected to complete a move for Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell before the domestic transfer window closes on October 16th, according to a report from the Daily Star.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been heavily linked with a move for Cantwell over the last few weeks, with the Whites having reportedly tabled an offer worth around £15 million for the 22-year-old, as per Football Insider. However, further reports did suggest that the Canaries are confident of keeping hold of the midfielder but they are valuing him at around £20 million if anyone does want to sign him.

Leeds and Cantwell saga could rumble on until the deadline

It has been reported that despite Leeds so far failing to agree a deal, the 22-year-old is still eager to make a move to Elland Road and make a return to playing Premier League football . The Whites are understood to still be pursuing a deal for the midfielder ahead of the domestic deadline, as per the Daily Star.

Cantwell still has two years remaining on his Norwich contract, and the Canaries are seemingly doing all they can to keep hold of the midfielder. That comes after he stood out for them throughout a challenging campaign in the Premier League last year, registering six goals and two assists in 37 league appearances, as per Sofascore.

Cantwell signing would round of excellent Leeds window

Leeds have already enjoyed a very promising transfer window, with the Whites having brought in the likes of Rodrigo, Diego Llorente, Raphinha and Robin Koch. However, the one thing missing has been the arrival of a quality midfielder with Bielsa’s side having backed away from signing Michael Cuisance due to an issue with his medical.

Cantwell could be the player that Leeds need to provide more quality and competition in the midfield area, with the 22-year-old having averaged 0.8 shots, 0.9 key passes and maintaining an 82% passing accuracy per game last term (via Sofascore). Those stats would likely improve under Bielsa’s coaching and he appears to be a perfect fit if Leeds can get a deal over the line.
