The Sun’s Alan Nixon has taken to Twitter to issue a very positive update on the possibility of Leeds United signing 17-year-old Wigan Athletic attacking midfielder, Sean McGurk.
The Whites have been linked with a move for the teenager, who is yet to make his senior debut for the Latics.
An Orta-type target
The attacking midfielder, who is said to be ‘highly-rated’, per the Yorkshire Evening Post, is seen as the type of signing that Leeds United’s director of football Victor Orta ‘has made a huge push’ for during his time at Elland Road.
The Spaniard has been keen on bringing ‘emerging talent from academies across Europe’ to Leeds and it’s claimed by the Yorkshire Evening Post that McGurk would be similar to those types of players, so perhaps this could be yet another coup from the Spaniard.
What has Nixon said about Leeds United potentially signing McGurk?
When one particular Leeds United fan took to Twitter to ask Nixon for an update on the Yorkshire club’s pursuit of McGurk, the journalist quote-tweeted that post and issued a very encouraging seven-word update, declaring: ‘That will get done at some point.’
Nixon went on to state that he is of the belief that this deal could get over the line ‘now or in the summer.’
Are you excited about this potential deal?
So, judging by this update, it’s certainly looking like McGurk’s future lies at Thorp Arch and it will be interesting to see if the Whites push to get this deal over the line in January or if they wait until the summer to make their move.
In other news, details have emerged on Marcelo Bielsa’s plan for Robbie Gotts.
