Leeds United are interested in signing Hertha Berlin forward Matheus Cunha this summer, in what could be an exciting piece of business.
The Lowdown: Bielsa keen on reinforcements
Marcelo Bielsa has built a strong squad at Elland Road, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be improved upon ahead of next season.
Leeds may aim to bring in a left-back, central midfielder and attacking player, in order to improve both the quality and depth at the manager’s disposal, with Paul Robinson claiming recently the boss could bring five new faces through this door this summer.
The Latest: Cunha linked again
Napoli, Monaco and Atalanta are also mentioned as potential suitors.
The Verdict: Exciting creative option
Cunha would be an exciting signing for Leeds, with the Brazilian averaging three dribbles per game in the league this season – Raphinha (1.9) averaged the most for the Whites in the Premier League in 2020/21.
That proves that he is a player who makes thing happen on the ball, while eight goals and four assists, in all competitions, highlight his end product.
Granted, Cunha would cost a lot of money, but if Leeds are to go up another level, they need to be spending big on top-quality talent, and the prospect of having him and Raphinha on opposite wings is quite something.
In other news, there has reportedly been a twist in Leeds’ efforts to sign one player this summer. Read more here.
