Leeds United youngster Leif Davis could potentially make his loan move to Bournemouth permanent this summer, according to a report from Dorset Live.

The Lowdown: Davis on loan at Bournemouth

The 22-year-old was allowed to leave Elland Road on a temporary basis last summer, with the signing of Junior Firpo pushing him further down the left-back pecking order.

Davis has had a relatively low-key time of things at Bournemouth, starting just six Championship games, but he has still played a part in their promotion push.

It remains to be seen if the youngster still has a long-term future at Leeds, but a fresh update suggests that the opposite may be true.

The Latest: Permanent move this summer?

According to Dorset Live, there is an increasing feeling that Davis could end up joining the Cherries on a permanent deal, with manager Scott Park impressed with the player's development at the Vitality Stadium.

The defender's current Leeds deal expires at the end of the 2022/23 season, so Leeds could be open to selling him to Bournemouth this summer in order to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer 12 months further down the line.

The Verdict: Potential shame for Leeds

Davis is a talented young player for whom Leeds have had high hopes - he has been described as an 'animal' by Parker - but it could be a struggle for him to make the grade at Elland Road now.

Firpo has come in and earned regular starts at left-back; and at 22, Davis is no longer so young that he can be considered a future first-team regular who can mature into something special.

A permanent switch to Bournemouth in the summer could be the best outcome for all parties, allowing Leeds to spend the money from any prospective sale of Davis on a signing instead rather than paying wages for a player who seems to have no future at the club.
