An own goal from Latic debutant Tom Pearce opened the scoring after just 19 minutes after he steered the ball past team-mate David Marshall in between the sticks.

Barnes has been receiving plenty of criticism from segments of the King Power Stadium faithful this season but proved his critics wrong against the Lancashire based-outfit.

He managed to get three shots on target, completed two key passes and accumulated a pass success rate of 75%, according to SofaScore.

Supporters were pleased for Barnes after getting on the scoresheet and made their feelings clear on social media.
