Leicester eyeing Dean Henderson

Share

Leicester City fans can now breathe a huge sigh of relief as they managed to secure their first three points under Brendan Rodgers yesterday with a 2-1 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

Indeed, Brendan Rodgers will understandably have his own plans ahead of the summer transfer window, but signing a new goalkeeper isn’t exactly the first thing that springs to mind.

What’s the news?

According to The Sun on Sunday (17/03, page 57) (via HITC), Leicester City are interested in Dean Henderson.

The 22-year-old is currently spending his time out on loan at Championship side Sheffield United, but he’s attracting interest from the likes of Norwich City, the Blades and Bournemouth.

Although, it’s understood that the Foxes must be able to offer first-team action to land the shot-stopper.

The Verdict:

Leicester fans may be slightly surprised that Rodgers is looking at signing a goalkeeper as the Foxes already have the likes of Kasper Schmeichel, Danny Ward and Eldin Jakupovic in their ranks.

Dean Henderson, who is valued at £2.25 million (by Transfermarkt), has been one of the standout performers in the Championship this season having put in a number of quality performances for the Blades.

He’s set to return to his parent club Manchester United in the summer, which has reportedly attracted the attention of a number of clubs. And, the Red Devils will insist he plays Premier League football next season, which could mean the the Blades are ruled out of the race if they fail to make the most of their current position.

Leicester City fans, do you think Rodgers needs to bring in a goalkeeper? Surely Kasper Schmeichel has been good enough this season…
