Liverpool: Fans drool over Opta stat that puts the Reds in the same light as some of the Premier League great teams

Loads of Liverpool fans were in awe of a statistic which put their side alongside some of the greatest teams in Premier League history.

Opta revealed on Twitter (via @OptaJoe) that Jurgen Klopp’s men have already won as many points this season as Manchester United’s treble-winning team of 1998/99, who finished the season on 79 points. The sports data collecting service also recorded that they have won as many league games as the Arsenal invincibles during the 2003/04 campaign with 26 victories.

This came after the Merseyside club beat West Ham 3-2 at Anfield, when Klopp’s side had to dig deep in order to get a result. Indeed, they were 2-1 down in the second half but goals from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane turned the game on its head. With this in mind and with the title almost in the Reds’ grasp, many supporters were delighted with the stat. One fan said that the team have become the “indomitables”, while another described the German tactician’s side as “ridiculous”.
