Liverpool: Fans give credit to Andy Lonergan after he reflects on the past decade

Liverpool fans have heaped praise on backup goalkeeper Andy Lonergan after he reflected on his last decade on social media.

The 36-year-old was brought to the club after former Red Simon Mignolet left the club to join Club Brugge in the summer and Adrian picked up a significant injury during the Premier League opener against Norwich City.

The veteran was part of both of Jurgen Klopp’s sides that lifted the Super Cup in Istanbul and Club World Cup in Doha.

Lonergan has played for various clubs throughout his career, such as Preston North End, Bolton Wanderers and Leeds United. But ultimately made his mark while playing for the Lilywhites, keeping 55 clean sheets in 228 appearances.

He is yet to make a first-team appearance for Liverpool but could become a useful asset if anything were to happen to Alisson or Adrian.

Supporters were full of praise for the veteran shot-stopper and made their feelings clear on Twitter.

Here you will find some of the best comments from Liverpool fans:
