Every season sees a top side benefit from a cut-price transfer poaching a relegated star. Over the last few seasons Liverpool have swooped in to sign Andrew Robertson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Xherdan Shaqiri, and this season the fans have been talking about the possibility of grabbing Ryan Sessegnon on the cheap.

Sessegnon became a household name in English football for his age as much as his ability. The Reds would have jumped at the chance to bring the teenage in 12 months ago but now the fans have second thoughts. In the Championship, Sessegnon looked like the real deal with his return of 15 goals and six assists as he featured in every single game the Whites played in the league.
His first Premier League has been much the opposite though, as the youngster has just two goals and five assists to his name in 26 outings. The last few months haven’t been kind to the 18-year-old either as he’s found himself benched by Ryan Babel at left-wing and Joe Bryan at left-back. Many of the sides who would have jumped at the chance to sign him 12 months back will be having their doubts, and the Reds are certainly going to be one of those clubs.

He needs to get to a level where he can come in to the team at the drip of a hat and perform well he’s not at that level yet, he still has a lot of learning to do.

The Kopites don’t want to see Klopp looking at Sessegnon and despite their recent success purchasing relegated players the risk attached to this one is too much for them.
