If everyone agreed in football then the game would be boring. However, one thing that a lot of Liverpool fans agreed on yesterday was that one particular take from popular fan account Empire of the Kop was a load of nonsense. They claimed that Adam Lallana is ‘exactly the type of player’ they need in game’s like yesterdays at Fulham and the fans weren’t having it.

Most tweets that start with the words ‘Unpopular opinion’ tend to be exactly that and this is one that didn’t disappoint. Whilst Lallana certainly has his worth as a squad player, he is surely nothing more than just that. At the age of 30, there is little that he really offers anymore and the fans can rightly feel frustrated that there are supporters out there backing the Englishman ahead of the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri.
The one man that the Kopites know has a brilliant impact is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and the sooner that he’s back fit the better. The way that the ex-Arsenal man can dictate games with his pace, passing and ability to drive at the opposition makes him a much better option than Lallana, and that is one opinion that will be shared by the vast majority of the Kopites.

The Reds don’t have anything against Adam Lallana, but their side has moved on from players of his calibre and they believe it’s high time that he moved on too.
