Liverpool fans have been paying close attention to their injury issues this season, and they cannot believe how often Dejan Lovren winds up on the sidelines. The self-proclaimed best defender in the world is currently out again, as Jurgen Klopp confirmed in his press conference yesterday and the fans are starting to get on his back for it.

The Croatian defender is a superb player on his day, despite his critics, and whilst he may not be the most popular player in the Premier League, his partnership with Virgil van Dijk last season was mightily impressive. However, this season has seen Joe Gomez replace Lovren as the club’s number one partner for Van Dijk, and the constant injuries Lovren suffers are likely a factor.
At the moment, Virgil van Dijk is one of just two fit defenders at Anfield and it looks like he’s going to be forced to feature alongside Joel Matip later today. Unfortunately, though, even he’ll be unavailable in the week for the clash with Bayern Munich, and not having Lovren fit for that clash could be a huge blow seeing as Klopp will be forced to shoe-horn Fabinho in there.
