Roberto Firmino’s game may not be all about goals, but as a striker, you need to be getting on the scoresheet here and there. However, even when the goals aren’t there, the Brazilian usually offers something else in the way of link-up play and he hasn’t had that as of late, leading to plenty of Reds calling for him to spend some time on the bench.
Liverpool’s #9 has been a shadow of the player he was last season. The 27-year-old has scored just five goals and registered two assists in 20 games this season, a record that Liverpool fans won’t be too keen to hear about. Compare that to this time last season when the Brazilian had already bagged 11 times for his club and you can see why the fans are calling for him to be dropped with numbers looking poor.
Meanwhile, the likes of Daniel Sturridge and now Divock Origi, who bagged the crucial derby winner yesterday, are looking like they could stake a claim to be the starting frontman in Jurgen Klopp’s side. Firmino has been miles off of the pace so far and Klopp will know that now it’s just a matter of trying to remedy it and a spell on the sidelines could be just what the 27-year-old needs to get the fire back as he aims to help his side kick on and win some silverware.

Klopp has a thing for starting players out of position, Gomez had a poor game against PSG because he started him as a RB. Firmino has been the worst player in the squad this season because he constantly starts at a deeper role. Salah isn't the same as a CF too.

The Kopites all seem to agree that Firmino isn’t himself and would love to see him given some rest with the aim of having him come back stronger than ever.
