Liverpool: Fans react as club are linked with ‘new Paul Pogba’ Boubakary Soumare

Liverpool fans have rubbished rumours that the club is interested in the ‘new Paul Pogba’ Boubakary Soumare, using the opportunity to mock Manchester United’s star man.

The Reds are set to go up against the likes of Real Madrid, Tottenham and Manchester United to secure the signings of the Frenchman, who plays his football for the Ligue 1 outfit Lille. The 20-year-old has expressed his intention to finish the season in his homeland before thinking about his future, as per the Daily Mail. According to French news outlet Le10 Sport, last season’s Champions League winners have now entered the fray for the box-to-box midfielder, describing him as the ‘new Paul Pogba’.

Soumare is a defensive midfielder who can also play in a more advanced role if required and is a strong passer of the ball. Indeed, Whoscored recorded that in Ligue 1 this season, he has accumulated a 90.2% pass success rate, an average of two completed long balls per game and 1.1 tackles. Despite this, supporters were put off with his comparison to Manchester United’s Pogba and made their feelings clear on social media.
