Liverpool and Everton have smashed their previous record for most views on a Merseyside derby, totalling an audience of 5.5 million UK viewers last night.
Despite the goalless draw at Goodison Park, more than five million fans tuned in to watch the runaway Premier League leaders take on their local rivals (as per Sky Sports, relayed via @AnfieldEdition).

It was a cagey affair that arguably should have gone Everton’s way but the spoils were shared after a quiet evening. Tom Davies mustered up the best chance of the game in the 80th minute, capitalising on a spilled save but clipping the post with his shot.
A lot of Liverpool fans are scoffing at the idea of such a large viewing on a dull Merseyside derby. One Red has tweeted it was the “worst I’ve ever seen” whilst another labelled it “absolutely dreadful”. Out of the entire 90 minutes, each team managed just three shots on target with just 18 shots altogether being attempted throughout the entire match (via BBC Sport).
