Liverpool: Fans react to Real Madrid’s proposed £151m bid for Virgil van Dijk

Loads of Liverpool fans have howled at Real Madrid’s reported approach for the Dutch talisman Virgil van Dijk.

According to reports from Don Balon (also cited by Sports Mole), Los Blancos are weighing up an approach for the Netherlands international in the region of £151m (€180m). Indeed, Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is reportedly searching for a replacement for their long-serving captain Sergio Ramos, whose contract expires in 2021, as per TransferMarkt.

Van Dijk has been a sensation since making his £75m move from Southampton in 2018. His consistent performances and defensive masterclasses saw him finish 2nd in the Ballon d’Or awards 2019 to Lionel Messi. The 28-year-old also played a key part in the Reds lifting their sixth European crown in Madrid and is now on the verge of winning the club’s first Premier League title in 30 years.

Some Reds supporters had their guard up and laughed at Madrid’s offer, making their feelings clear on social media. One fan jokingly suggested that the funds would not be enough to cover the cost of his left eyebrow.
