Liverpool: Fans speculate as Gini Wijnaldum breaks his silence on Barcelona move

Gini Wijnaldum could be looking to leave Liverpool this year as former international coach Ronald Koeman has come knocking from his new role as Barcelona manager.

The Catalonians are looking to entice the Dutch midfielder to Spain this window as the likelihood of a new contract being signed with Liverpool is looking less and less likely.

Wijnaldum has just one year left of his current terms and the Reds may be forced to cash in to avoid losing him for free next summer. James Pearce recently admitted that the reality of the current transfer market could see the 29-year-old offloaded before Liverpool make an official move on major target Thiago Alcantara.

After weeks of speculation, the midfielder has broken his silence on the Barcelona links. In a recent press conference whilst with the Netherlands national team, Wijnaldum said: “It’s a rumour, I have nothing to say about it,” (via Metro).

A few Liverpool fan accounts have shared his comments on Twitter and they’ve attracted a lot of attention. One supporter appears to be worried that ‘he’s not even denied it’, but they are forced to wait until an official statement presents itself regarding the £36million-valued man’s future.
