Liverpool: Fans want Julian Nagelsmann as Jurgen Klopp successor

The Athletic‘s James Pearce recently commented on Liverpool’s current managerial situation, with Jurgen Klopp now penned to the club until 2024. There are two names in mind for the German’s successor, though, and fans would love it if it’s Julian Nagelsmann.

Pearce’s recent comments have hinted at Pep Lijnders and Julian Nagelsmann being favourites to succeed Klopp when he eventually calls it a day at Liverpool. Lijnders took over the role as assistant manager when Zeljko Buvac left the club in 2019 – he is highly thought of and respected by Fenway Sports Group and his popularity at Anfield could see him become the favourite to take over from Klopp when his contract runs out.

However, many Liverpool supporters would like to see Nagelsmann – who is currently at RB Leipzig – to be considered for the job. The fellow German is having a positive impact on the Bundesliga side who are currently third in the table, just four points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

One fan has likened the two German managers to one another while another has hailed Nagelsmann for doing an ‘incredible job’ at Leipzig.

He is doing an incredible job at RB Leipzig for that matter. He knows best and he demands a lot from the players. I believe he is well suited to take over from Jurgen Klopp once he leaves
