Liverpool: Fans welcome back Xherdan Shaqiri as he returns to first team training

Liverpool fans have reacted with glee as midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri returns to first-team training after a period on the sidelines due to injury.

The 28-year-old has been out of action for the last two months with a calf injury and has only appeared four times for the Reds so far during the current campaign.

He joined up with his teammates at Melwood on Tuesday and could feature against Crystal Palace on Saturday as Mohamed Salah remains doubtful to be in contention. Shaqiri recently admitted that he had become frustrated with his peripheral role in the squad.

Manager Jurgen Klopp admitted that his recovery took longer than initially predicted by the Reds’ medical team due to the Swiss midfielder’s “big muscles”.
