Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are preparing for a make or break week for their side and our landlord hands out the beers as he divulges the gossip coming from the Liverpool Echo.
The Reds have seven days ahead of them that could well decide their season, with a crunch game against Manchester City in a week but before that, the second leg of their Europa League round of 32 match up against Besikas – and Brendan Rodgers knows his side need to be at their best to come through unscathed and it seems that attitude has filtered down through his squad.
Midfielder Joe Allen was not only talking about his future and noting that Liverpool fans have not seen the best of him yet, but also about the final part of the season and his view that the side have plenty left in their locker, and come May, the fans could well be celebrating.
Allen was speaking about the week ahead for his side and claimed: ‘It’s a great time to be a Liverpool player and a Liverpool supporter too, I think.
‘If we can keep our run going, put the pressure on those teams and as I say, keep getting through to the next stages of the cup competitions, then who knows?’
