Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are discussing their forward options ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League game and are debating whether an additional striker should be signed in January.
They’ve been alerted to reports from the continent, as CalcioMercato state the Reds are lining-up a swoop for £25m-rated Inter Milan ace Mauro Icardi; a 22-year-old who currently captains the Serie A title chasers.
Icardi, also a reported target for Chelsea and Tottenham, has been surrounded by transfer rumours recently after being dropped by Roberto Mancini for the crucial league clash against Roma; which has increased speculation the Argentine could leave the San Siro.
Rated highly in European football, Liverpool fans in the Tavern all agree that the 22-year-old would provide a major boost to their side for years to come- but are concerned at paying such a high figure just months after splashing £32.5m on Christian Benteke.
However with Daniel Sturridge continuing to struggle with injury problems, and Divock Origi uninspiring, they accept that Jurgen Klopp may face limited choices come the New Year.
