Liverpool really should consider ambitious move for £16.2m-rated Everton star, here’s why…

Liverpool fans here in the Tavern are delighted with their sides recent run of form, having gone unbeaten in their last seven games since suffering defeat in the FA Cup.

The Reds are on course for securing an all-important top-four spot this season with Champions League glory not too far away, after booking their place in the quarter-finals of the competition following a 5-0 aggregate win over Porto. Indeed, Jurgen Klopp’s side are looking like the team to beat with one of the world’s most dangerous attacks at their disposal, as many of our local Liverpudlians just can’t get enough of the prolific Mohamed Salah.

However, the Reds should now look to bring in a couple of additions in the summer transfer window, to build the foundations for a possible title challenge next season. And, Everton’s Idrissa Gueye could be a player that Jurgen Klopp takes a liking to, having impressed so far this season for their Merseyside rivals. Indeed, the 28-year-old is currently rated at £16.2 million (by Transfermarkt), which could mean that there’s a potential bargain in the offing for the Reds.

Therefore, here’s a look at TWO reasons as to why Liverpool should consider an ambitious move for the midfielder in the summer…

Naby Keita similarities

The Reds already have an agreement in place that will see RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita join the club in the summer for a hefty fee of £48 million, after enjoying a couple of quality seasons in the German Bundesliga.

Indeed, Idrissa Gueye has many similarities to the 23-year-old with pace and a low centre of gravity both being their strong points, and that’s not to mention the similar passing styles they share.

Therefore, Liverpool should look to sign the Senegalese international in the summer months to bolster their midfield, in what could turn out to be a formidable partnership formed by the African pair.

Emre Can replacement

The German’s future remains in doubt as the club will wait for the midfielder to make a decision at the end of the season, with Real Madrid and Juventus keen to snap up the 24-year-old when his contract expires in the summer.

Indeed, Idrissa Gueye could be seen as an ideal replacement for the Liverpool star as a fellow central midfielder, with passing also playing a huge part in the energetic 28-year-old’s game. And, with the Reds possibly looking to slim down on what is already an overloaded midfield, he could be seen as great back-up cover for one of the departing players.

Therefore, Jurgen Klopp should make an ambitious swoop for Gueye this summer, as a proven Premier League player that’s impressed since making the move to Goodison Park.
