Liverpool fans could be dealt some good news ahead of the transfer window as talks with Gini Wijnaldum over a new contract are reportedly progressing.
According to sport journalist Fabrizio Romano (relayed via @LFCTransferRoom), discussions between the Reds and the Dutchman’s agent over a contract extension are ‘going so well’. If Wijnaldum pens a new deal, it will likely see him commit his long-term future to the club, and will ease the minds of fans.

As it stands, the midfielder is heading into the final 12 months of his current deal, and supporters are eager to see him tied down. Wijnaldum has been influential over the last year, netting a brace in Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final clash against Barcelona to see them overturn a 3-0 deficit, and ultimately go on to win the competition.
This season, the 29-year-old has played in all but one Premier League match and has contributed five goals across all competitions (via Transfermarkt). His current market value is at £36million.
