Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern look rather happy with themselves as it is claimed by The Sport Review that one of their centre backs plans to stay at the club and see out his contract.
It had been thought that defender Daniel Agger could well be on his way this summer yet the latest news coming from the player’s camp seems to suggest otherwise.
After becoming a key squad member in the Liverpool team over the past few seasons, Agger has attracted the attention of Barcelona and a host of other top sides. The player himself has made 35 appearances this term and has established himself as one of the key players in Brendan Rodgers’ plans.
Given that the defender is under contract until 2016, it comes as no surprise that to land him would take a great deal of money with Liverpool already set to lose Jamie Carragher in the summer at the very least. Agger himself claimed that: “I still have three years left and I intend to fulfil them.
“There are always rumours, but who is creating them? I don’t know.
“It is not a bad thing to be linked with top clubs but you have to take 70 per cent of the speculation off and then you have the reality.”
