Liverpool: Fans howl at former Reds defender Mamadou Sakho

Liverpool fans reacted by mocking former Reds’ defender Mamadou Sakho after his error during Crystal Palace’s 4-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.

It was a horrific afternoon for the former France international and one that he will want to forget in a hurry. It was his failed headed clearance that allowed Ben Chilwell to score his first goal for the club and open the scoring.

Following that blunder, Sakho brought down Kai Havertz in the penalty area to concede a spot-kick, which Jorginho converted to make it 4-0 to the Blues, and manager Roy Hodgson could have no complaints after the final whistle.

Before his move to South London, Sakho had been at Anfield since 2013 and scored three goals from 80 appearances with the Reds (as per TransferMarkt), scoring a vital goal during one of their most famous nights in a Europa League clash against Borussia Dortmund.

The Frenchman fell out of favour under Jurgen Klopp back in 2016 after reporting late to a training session during their tour of the United States. He was sent back to England and completely shunned by the Reds boss.

As you can see from some of the comments below, supporters weren’t sympathetic towards Sakho as they voiced their views about his performance on social media.
