Manchester City supporters have been pretty downbeat in recent times after seeing their side suffer a surprise defeat upon return to the Champions League in midweek.
Pep Guardiola’s men went into their opening group stage clash against Lyon at the Etihad Stadium off the back of beating Fulham 3-0 in the Premier League a few days earlier, and thus full of confidence ahead of what they hope will be a successful European campaign. Yet the Citizens were second-best on Wednesday night as goals from Maxwel Cornet and Nabil Fekir set the French outfit on their way to all three points, as although Bernardo Silva got one back for the hosts, it wasn’t enough to inspire a City comeback.
Thus, there have been many disappointed Citizens supporters up and down the country in recent times, although their mood is likely to have been improved by the recent announcement that striker Sergio Aguero has signed a new deal with the Premier League champions.

The 30-year-old made the move to the Etihad Stadium back in 2011 after impressing greatly during his time at La Liga club Atletico Madrid, yet he has since taken it up another level at City in scoring 204 goals in just 299 games for the North West outfit, in turn becoming the club’s all-time leading goal-scorer.
And with three Premier League titles as well as three League Cup crowns, Aguero has certainly played his part in the most successful era of the club’s history, and news that he has pledged his future to City has unsurprisingly stimulated quite a reaction from Citizens supporters on Twitter.
And it’s fair to say that several are buzzing following the announcement…
Thank you for staying with City. You are City 24 carat Gold nugget (priceless). Can’t thank you enough for your loyal service
