The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been very impressed with the form of Ederson this season. The Brazilian moved to the Premier League and adjusted immediately, and he has been a big part of their success so far this season.
Indeed, with his fantastic passing and shot-stopping, the goalkeeper has been the perfect addition at the Etihad.
Though he only joined over the summer and resultantly has the majority of his contract still to run, Guardiola is said to view him as a long-term solution between the sticks, and a pay-bump is likely to be on the horizon for him as a result.
Undoubtedly, Ederson has emerged as one of the best players in the Premier League this season. Though he’s a goalkeeper, he is more comfortable with the ball at his feet than even some outfield players – and his passing at the back often forms the foundation of Man City attacks.
At 24-years-old, he’s still a young player, but his playstyle oozes confidence and class, and it’s a scary thought to consider that he’s only going to get better.
Landlord’s Verdict
Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne have gotten all the plaudits this season, and rightly so, but Ederson hasn’t been far behind in terms of significance.
They’ve had issues between the sticks for a while now, and whilst Claudio Bravo can consider himself slightly unlucky to be in the role he’s in, Ederson’s form has just been too good.
There’s no real concern about him leaving anytime soon, but securing his future and rewarding him for his fine form make sense.
