Manchester United are back in the Champions League and have two trophies in the bank following Jose Mourinho’s first season in charge at Old Trafford.
While not scaling the heights of success which Sir Alex Ferguson took the club to, it still represents an excellent bit of progress for the club after faltering campaigns under both David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal.
The United fans here in the Tavern are looking forward to watching top football again during midweek next year, but after discussions with our landlord, it’s pretty clear they think the squad needs adding to in order to compete with Europe’s elite.
One player who could be of massive benefit to United is current PSG and Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani, who has been banging in the goals once again for the French side, despite them missing out on the league title to Monaco.
Cavani is someone who could come into Old Trafford and really make an impact, with his experience and goal getting ability at the top level of European football the sort of calibre of striker United will be looking to bring in.
With Zlatan’s future still in doubt, it’s likely United will need to delve into the market to add some quality up top, and the signing of someone like Cavani could prove to be an inspired move for the Red Devils and Jose Mourinho.
