Manchester United have enjoyed a strong revival since Michael Carrick stepped into the dugout.
Although they recently suffered a setback against Newcastle United, the Red Devils have otherwise produced consistent performances under the interim manager.
United now sit third in the Premier League and appear on track to secure Champions League qualification — a scenario that looked extremely unlikely during the closing stages of Ruben Amorim’s time in charge.
Even with uncertainty over who will lead the team next season, recruitment plans for the summer transfer window are already underway. United spent heavily in previous windows, meaning their budget may be more limited this time around, but the club are still exploring smart additions to strengthen the squad.
Reports now suggest another Premier League attacker has been added to their list of potential targets.
Man Utd Targeting Tavernier
Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Bournemouth winger Marcus Tavernier ahead of the summer transfer window, according to the Mail Online.
Carrick recently confirmed that strengthening the left side of attack is a priority for the club, and scouts have been tasked with identifying several possible options. Tavernier is believed to be among the names under consideration, alongside Nottingham Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White and RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.
The 26-year-old has been an important part of Bournemouth’s attack when available. This season he has contributed six goals and five assists, continuing to demonstrate the creative qualities that have made him a key player on the south coast.
His performances have also attracted attention from other Premier League sides. Aston Villa are said to be monitoring his situation, while Nottingham Forest previously made enquiries during the January window before Tavernier suffered a hamstring injury.
Bournemouth have shown in recent years that they are willing to sell players at the right price before reinvesting in emerging talent for manager Andoni Iraola to develop. Despite being under contract until 2029, Tavernier — once described as “gifted” by former manager Gary O’Neil — could reportedly command a fee in the region of £40 million.
With United exploring options to strengthen their attacking depth, Tavernier has emerged as a realistic candidate. Whether the club decides to pursue the Bournemouth winger could depend on how much room they have to manoeuvre financially when the summer window opens.
