Manchester United have spent heavily in recent years trying to rebuild their squad, although some of those expensive moves have failed to deliver the expected results.
The likes of Rasmus Hojlund, Jadon Sancho and Antony arrived for significant fees, but United have increasingly shifted their focus towards younger players who can develop into long-term stars.
That approach has already seen the club recruit talents such as Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu, and another highly-rated youngster has now emerged on United’s radar.
However, they face competition from one of Germany’s biggest clubs.
United face competition for Louis Page
Borussia Dortmund have entered the race for Leicester City youngster Louis Page, according to TEAMtalk, with scouts reportedly watching the teenager at the weekend.
Page impressed during Leicester’s 4-3 win over Stockport County, creating two goals and catching the attention of several major clubs.
Manchester United were also present to assess the youngster, having previously come close to signing him during the summer.
United remain confident of their position and continue to view Page as a major target. The teenager has even been dubbed the “next Jude Bellingham” by some due to his potential.
Dortmund’s interest could complicate matters, however. The German club have built a reputation for developing elite young players and have a particularly strong connection to the Bellingham family.
Jude Bellingham flourished at Dortmund after joining from Birmingham City before moving to Real Madrid, while his younger brother Jobe is now following a similar path after arriving from Sunderland.
United will therefore have to move quickly if they want to maintain their advantage in the race for Page.
