The Daily Mirror have a cracker for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as they claim that Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov could well be on his way to Serie A.
The Serbian defender has struggled to hold down a first team spot under new manager Manuel Pellegrini and is willing to explore other options abroad should an opportunity present itself.
He did however note that under previous manager Roberto Mancini, opportunities were even less frequent, and is open to options now he has entered the last 18 months of his contract.
He claimed that: “I would love to return to the Italian league one day,
“We will see when the time is right. I didn’t get to play matches when I expected to during Roberto Mancini’s time. I’ve been playing more since Manuel Pellegrini’s arrival. But let’s see what happens.”
There are a host of clubs keen on the full back, with Inter Milan thought to be leading the race should he decide to leave the Premier League. City meanwhile are looking in brilliant shape at home, thrashing top of the table Arsenal to move up the table.
Kolarov of course has experience in Serie A, and is one of the top targets of new Inter owner Erick Thohir.
