The Glazers appear to be ‘keen’ on selling Manchester United following talks with interested parties, The Daily Mail report.

The Lowdown: Talks held

Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe appear to be the frontrunners to take control in Manchester, with both making offers for the club last month.

Jassim was the first to send a delegation to Old Trafford last week to hold talks over a potential takeover, with those discussions thought to be positive. Ratcliffe held his own talks a day later, and it looks as if the Glazers could now be open to a sale after reports just last month suggested they could remain at the club in some capacity.

The Latest: Keegan’s claim

Mike Keegan for The Daily Mail shared the latest on a potential takeover in the last 48 hours, saying that the ‘word is’ that the Glazers are now ‘keen on relinquishing their asset, if the price is right’. Keegan also shared some inside information from Carrington on where talks took place.

‘When the Glazer family announced their intention to sell or seek investment in Manchester United, there was cynicism over whether the Americans were serious. However, following two weeks of visits from interested groups, word is that the club's owners are keen on relinquishing their asset, if the price is right.

‘United transformed the Jimmy Murphy Centre, usually used for press conferences and media work, into a summit room for the visits at their Carrington training complex. The club's chefs prepared meals for those present while the press were forced to take a step back in time. Instead of their usual venue, press conferences took place in the small room to the right of reception — in which Sir Alex Ferguson used to regularly dish out his rollickings.’

The Verdict: Good news?

A number of Manchester United supporters are desperate for the Glazers to depart, with fans even chanting against the current owners during their Carabao Cup triumph against Newcastle United at Wembley last month.

Therefore, this update could be welcomed by those wanting a takeover to go through, and Erik ten Hag may also be hoping it is resolved by the summer in order for it not to impact the club in the transfer window.

There may well be further developments during the international break after talks with Jassim’s representatives and Ratcliffe last week and the Glazers’ stance on a sale and it will more than likely continue to be a hot topic of conversation.
