Manchester United fans are moving over from the bar and to the pool table where one of our punters is dishing all the gossip from the Daily Mail who seem to think that Louis van Gaal has not been using his connections.

Despite rumours surrounding the future of Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar who of course had a brilliant World Cup under van Gaal, it seems that no one has been in contact with him about a move.

Not even the Manchester United boss who is of course desperate for at least one top class centre back this winter.

Vlaar was asked about potential contact with former national team manager Louis van Gaal and claimed: “I’ve never heard from them. If a club had really wanted me, I would have noticed. That has not been the case.”

As our regulars note, United will have to enter the market to strengthen their defence but if their boss is to be believed, it could well be in the summer when the targets he wants become available.
