After Manchester United faced off with Chelsea in a one-sided affair at Stamford Bridge earlier, the Sunday Express reports that the Red Devils are keen on one of the Blues’ unused subs.
Chelsea are keen on keeping our player in question – Juan Mata – despite Jose Mourinho making it clear that the number 10 will never be a starter in his side whilst Oscar performs the way he does, and this has of course led the player to consider his future.
As our landlord serves up some rather tasty looking evening meals, he notes that given the quality in the Spanish national side, a move may be the only way Mata actually makes the plane to Brazil in the summer.
There could be an escape route for the player however with David Moyes looking to make a £20 million bid for the former Valencia star.
The Blues value Mata at £30 million, which is a significant amount more, yet as one of our more savvy and more awake punters notes, there could be some room for negotiation, should Wayne Rooney be added into the equation.
The United forward is Jose Mourinho’s prime target and despite reports that the Special One has given up on landing the England international, this could well be a way to open that door right back up.
