‘Might as well bring back Gervinho’ - Arsenal fans want Emery to avoid 25-year-old target

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager to see which players will move to the Emirates this summer.

It’s been a tough few years for Arsenal, but over the last 18 months or so, there have been signs that something is changing. A few big names have signed on in the form of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil signed a new deal, and Arsene Wenger has been replaced.

Whether Unai Emery will get the freedom to sign who he wants remains to be seen, but it certainly appears as though the club are kicking on with plans to freshen things up.

New signings are likely this summer, it seems, and one player the Gunners are said to be keen on is Brazilian midfielder Bernard.

Andersinho Marques of Premium Sport HD revealed on Twitter this week that the club, alongside Liverpool and some Chinese clubs, are interested in the 25-year-old. He is set to be a free agent this summer after his deal with Shakhtar Donetsk runs out.

A talented, technically gifted midfielder, Bernard has been the playmaker in the Shakhtar Donetsk team over the last few years, but it appears as though he’s now seeking a fresh challenge.

However, this isn’t a move that the Arsenal fans over on Reddit want. Indeed, they’ve taken to the platform to discuss the report, and it’s fair to say that Bernard isn’t too popular.

One fan has even suggested that the club re-sign Gervinho instead, and he certainly wasn’t popular in London!
