The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been slating Danny Murphy after he made a bold statement live on TalkSPORT, the former Liverpool and England midfielder stated that the German stopper would never play for Liverpool again after his Champions League final blunders. The young ‘keeper made two huge errors leading to Real Madrid scoring as Los Blancos beat Jurgen Klopp’s side 3-1 in Kiev.

The second half of the season actually saw Karisu pick up a lot of form. The goalkeeper had been battling it out with Belgium’s Simon Mignolet for a spot between the sticks at Anfield, although since January the German has been prefered as Klopp’s number one ahead of Mignolet. The resurgence of Karius came at the same time that Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk broke into the first team and the trio helped to sure up the Reds shaky defence.
The Champions League final was obviously too big of a game for the inexperienced young man between the sticks. The first mistake he made came six minutes into the second half, when he rolled the ball straight onto Benzema’s foot, leaving him helpless as the ball rolled into the net. His second mistake and arguably the worse of the two, was much more his fault though. After already having seen Gareth Bale score a superb goal, the Liverpool fans watched on as Bale released a dipping effort from 30 yards that slipped straight through Karius hands and into the net.

Don’t think we’ll get rid of him as Mignolet is likely on the way out. I do think we’ll sign a new keeper and make Karius number 2 though.

I’m no football manager but personally, assuming we all know mignolet is leaving and we get Allison or oblak, I’d have ward as backup for the season and try and get karius on loan to a team in europe for the year. He gets experience and comes back stronger, out of the limelight.
