The last few weeks have been hell on earth for Newcastle United fans. The club has repeatedly let down the fans and it’s been a long time since they’ve been able to celebrate a successful transfer window. Rafa Benitez managed to bring in seven new players but the fans still aren’t happy, especially with this news from Globo that claims they missed out on a late deal for Monaco’s Jorge.

The fans knew that going into deadline day they needed a centre-back and a left-back. Benitez did extremely well to secure the deal for Salomon Rondon with Dwight Gayle going the other way. Then the Spaniard managed to bring in Argentina defender Federico Fernandez from Swansea which will prove to be a very successful move if he can show his class at St James Park in the upcoming season.
However, with just Paul Dummett as an out-and-out left-back, this season could be a tough one. The club also has Javier Manquillo and Achraf Lazaar who can deputise for Dummett but neither of those are Premier League quality and it will be a big job for Dummett to last the whole season holding down the left side of the defence unless Benitez opts to use a three at the back system.

The fans are far from shocked at their club’s incompetence in the window but will still be fuming at Mike Ashley and Lee Charley for the mess they’ve been put in.
