LAFC have approached Tottenham skipper Heung-min Son over a move to the United States this summer. The 33 year-old’s future has been the subject of much speculation, with many reports linking him with a move away from the club after a ten year stay.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that talks with the MLS side are in the early stages, and that Son is due for talks with his new manager Thomas Frank to discuss his future. Son is Tottenham’s longest tenured player having joined the club from Leverkusen in 2015.
He’s gone on to make 333 appearances for Spurs, scoring 127 goals and adding 71 assists. He will go down in Spurs folklore for being the captain to lift the club’s first trophy in over 17 years, when he lifted the Europa League title last season.
Spurs fans will remember him fondly for spearheading the side – alongside Harry Kane- that finished above fierce rivals Arsenal over a six year stretch from 2016 to 2022, reaching the Champions League final in 2019.
His current deal is set to expire in 2026 and Spurs are understood to be willing to accept an offer in the region of £15m-£20m.

Any move for Son will likely develop after Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia however. The South Korean is a mega-star in his home country as well as the broader Asia, and the Sun has reported that his appearance on the tour entitles Spurs to a lofty compensation.
Spurs will face rivals Arsenal in Hong Kong on July 31 before ending their Asia tour in Son’s home country against Newcastle in Seoul on August 3.
Tottenham have already signed who many believe could be Son’s replacement, in the shape of West Ham talisman Mohammed Kudus in a £55m deal earlier this summer. They have also signed Japanese defender Kato Takai, while making the loan deal for young Bayern Munich talent Mathy Tel permanent.
Spurs are keen on adding Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White to their ranks as well and attempted to trigger his £60m release clause, but face a stumbling block after Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis halted the transfer claiming Spurs’ approach was illegal.
