The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Mourinho can get a bit of revenge against Chelsea on Monday…
After all, the Red Devils succumbed to a 4-0 smashing against the Blues earlier this season – and Jose Mourinho will surely want to get one back on his old club.
It would appear as though the Portugease manager is willing to go all out to secure the win against Chelsea, too, having recently revealed that he won’t be picking a ‘Nicky Butt team’ against the Blues.
According to the Evening Standard, he said: “We cannot go with Nicky Butt’s team. Manchester United is too big. Manchester United is the winner of the competition”.
He did also note, though, that changes would be forthcoming: “It is not Chelsea’s fault that we were given this Monday match, so we have to make changes for sure”.
By ‘Nicky Butt team’ Mourinho is, of course, referring to the role that young players could play within the squad – with Butt currently a youth coach at Man Utd.
Certainly, these comments do reveal quite a lot about his proposed team selection for Monday night. It seems as though a strong side will be picked, though his suggestion that the side will make changes does hint that fringe players, like Rashford and Shaw, could indeed get a game.
Chelsea, conversely, are reportedly set to field a full strength team – with Antonio Conte seemingly keen to ensure that he can beat Man Utd once again.
It is sure to be a packed house in the Transfer Tavern, with both sets of fans willing their respective sides on.
