‘Nail on the head’, ‘Well said’ - Man City fans react as club legend delivers Yaya Toure verdict

The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are quite simply in disbelief by Yaya Toure’s latest public admission to add to his collection of bewildering comments he has made in the media.

The Ivory Coast international has never been too far away from the headlines both on and off the field throughout his Manchester City career, but the majority of his questionable comments have often been attributed to his agent by the supporters.

However, our resident Citizens faithful propping up our bar are beginning to question if his narcissistic comments were actually products of his own making all along, as he has recently suggested that Pep Guardiola has “problems with Africans” during an interview with France Football.

Toure’s claims of a racist agenda have shocked the City supporters and the British media and plenty of individuals have taken to Twitter to voice their opinion on the issue.

With a history as trivial as Toure’s which notoriously featured a public complaint about not receiving a birthday cake, it’s easy to sympathise with the views of supporters who believe the 34-year-old’s claim is grossly unfair on the City manager.

The former City player and ambassador Paul Lake has delivered his own verdict on Twitter by not so subtly implying that Toure’s antics away from the pitch have lacked the class which he consistently demonstrated on the pitch throughout his career in Manchester.

And the City fans have turned out in their numbers to reiterate Lake’s assessment of the situation and express their disappointment with how Toure has brought his glittering career at the Etihad to a controversial conclusion.
