Newcastle United are reportedly close to signing Rodrigo Vilca from Deportivo Municipal, according to the Daily Mail
As per the outlet, the Tyneside club are closing in on a £250,000 deal for the highly-rated playmaker, who could then be loaned back out of St James’ Park to perhaps get some much-needed experience.
The Peruvian is regarded as a promising talent and has been called up to the international squad by Ricardo Gareca.

However, Newcastle apparently fear that he may lack the physical capabilities to make an impact in the Premier League just yet, hence why he may be moved out on loan from the Magpies in order to continue his development.
Indeed, it is not hard to see why Vilca is such a prospect. The attacking midfielder has scored four goals and supplied a further three assists in 26 games in all competitions while playing in Peru (via Transfermarkt).
In 10 matches in Peru’s Liga 1 this year, Vilca has won a rather impressive 7.1 of his duels per game and has also averaged 1.7 key passes and 1.7 successful dribbles in addition to 1.4 shots a game (per Sofascore).

At just 21 years of age as well, Vilca still has time to grow and develop in his position; and if he can improve his physicality, perhaps he would be able to break into the Magpies’ first team under Steve Bruce, so long as Newcastle can get his signature over the line before the transfer window shuts.
