Many Newcastle United fans are buzzing as ‘reliable Middle East sources’ have made a rather bold claim about the prospective takeover in the northeast, as per John Richardson (via NUFC 360‘s Twitter page).
Apparently, the proposed takeover at St. James’ Park has been given the go ahead and an official announcement on the matter is ‘imminent’. Indeed, these are relatively bold remarks but, if they turn out to be true, then the Toon faithful will have plenty of reason to be cheerful.
It is understood that the Premier League have still yet to officially approve of the deal as the Saudi-led consortium still have to pass the owners’ and directors’ tests set out by the league. Nevertheless, if these tests are passed, then the would-be owners could take the reins from Mike Ashley, who has owned the Tyneside club for 13 years.
